The system is encased in a waterproof 1440 Peli case with handle and wheels. The disk subsystem is mounted on a floating anti shock cage that isolate the disks from all shock’s and vibrations.
The bottom of the Peli case is totally sealed so when the disk array is operated standing in the ground, it doesn’t matter if there is water or mud underneath or around it. The system can withstand the first droplets of a starting rain before its being covered with the optional rain cover.
It is autonomous as it has 4 x 95Wh Li-ion battery subsystem, which can hold the disk array running for more than six hours without external power. Additionally is acting as a universal input (85VAC to 265VAC) online UPS that protects from all power fluctuations that probably are coming from generators or other unreliable sources. |

The host connection is thru a 4Gbit Fiber Channel connection that delivers 370Mbytes/sec sustained read/write performance while on Raid 6 (to fail you have to lose three disks), so its ideal for 2K/4K digital cinematography direct to disk on set recording or backup applications.

The system also can be used for high speed transfers of vast amount of data since it needs less than an hour to copy 1 terabyte of data. Also in many applications such as 2K/4K DI it’s not even needed to transfer the data to another fast disk array since the FiberPack is already capable to do 2K/4K DI, so you just bring it from set, hook it on the post SAN network, and grade directly with no copy needed (except for safety reasons). |
Online storage of the system is 10Tbytes or 14Tbytes, depending on the model, when configured as RAID 6, and when in RAID 0 the total capacity is 12Tbytes or 16Tbytes. On set can be used two FiberPack’s, connected to the same host computer in the same time, in a mirroring topology (Raid1), in this way with just one action, the production has the safety of double copies…!
It has being given extra care from the design phase to be airline friendly, so the battery system is designed in accordance with all IATA regulations (the batteries can be isolated within the case physically as well as electrically) and the size of the case is allowable for carry on.
The temperature range is +5C to +45C or it can be ordered with extended range with preheat resistors that can operate from -20 C to + 55C in yellow colour. In this setup it will have three hours run time with batteries. When the case is closed it can be submerged to water in 1m depth…! |
